Let me tell you why saving money on a theme park trip hits home for me. After a week at Disney, I came back with $3.42 in my checking account (slight exaggeration, slight) and a lightsaber that only works when you wave it at exactly the right speed while praying.

Meanwhile, my 6-year-old lost interest in Mickey by day two and spent the rest of the trip asking when she could go back to the hotel pool “because it has the good vending machine.” My toddler cried every time Goofy got too close, and I cried every time I checked the bank app.
